This drama from South America seems at first sight to be one of those earnest tracts about the violent social and political situation prevailing throughout the continent in recent times, in this case specifically the Colombia of the 1950s. So the dedication to Roger Corman and Roman Polanski certainly raised my eyebrows!
In fact this is a compelling and eerie story of the forbidden love of a teenage brother and sister, interweaving ancient local legends in a style which can only be called “jungle gothic”. Strongly recommended for the more sophisticated fantasy fan.
