Description
A toxic spill revives a beautiful, dead heiress who, with the help of her childhood friend, must quench her insatiable thirst for blood.

Jean Rollin's "La Morte Vivante"/"The Living Dead Girl" is an excellent erotic ultra-gory vampire tale and I like it very much. The film has some wonderful atmosphere and some striking images of eternal painful life. There is plenty of graphic gore to satisfy fans of extreme horror. Along with all of the gore there is a large amount of beautiful naked women running around. Rollin's trademark photography is naturally here but this film is much gorier than his other films that I've seen. Francoise Blanchard who plays bloodthirsty Catherine is incredibly beautiful. Overall,I enjoyed this film and you should too if you like zombie/vampire cinema.

Les trottoirs de Bangkok (1984) Jean Rollin

La Morte Vivante (1982) aka The Living Dead Girl

Genre: Action | Crime
Director: Jean Rollin
Country: France
Language: French
Subtitles: English (Harcoded)
Aspect Ratio: 1.66:1
Length: 85mn
File: Dvdrip Xvid Avi - 640x464 - 29fps - 965mb

Description
Filmed on location in the streets of Paris and inspired by the 1930s classic "The Mask of Fu Manchu," this cliffhanger yarn from director Jean Rollin departs from his usual vampire-themed tales. Adventure, crime and mystery combine with comic book dialogue and some sadistic sex for good measure. Playfully perverse, pistol-packing fun with Yoko and the alluring Francoise Blanchard (The Living Dead Girl)!

I'll say one thing about this movie, it has some of the most overacted death scenes ever on film. I mean you got guys getting shot that go down like there at a ballet recital. Not that it was a bad thing, but you get to know when to just drop and don't move. I have no complaints about the whorehouse in Thailand though. What man doesn't want to see shapely, exotic sexy women dancing naked or rubbing their naked body all over yours as a massage. The death by "train trample" was a great idea, but I be damned if I let anyone tie me to a track, you're going to have to shoot me in the struggle. Too bad the bad guys got away from it (only to get capped). The female mob leader sure was a freak. The part where she decides to sit naked and enjoy her won close circuit S&M, was probably as the best part of her movie. I bet it sure sucks to get shot whole you are getting some. The end was good when the dog bites the guy, and you see that dog sitting by his dead body just chillin.

La Rose de Fer (The Iron Rose) (1973) Jean Rollin

La Rose de Fer (The Iron Rose) (1973)

Genre: Horror | Surreal
Director: Jean Rollin
Country: France
Language: French
Subtitles: English (idx/sub files)
Aspect Ratio: Widescreen 1.66:1
Length: 76mn
File: Dvdrip Divx Avi - 720x448 - 29fps - 902mb

Description:
A young couple out for a walk decide to take a stroll through a large cemetery. As darkness begins to fall they realize they can't find their way out, and soon their fears begin to overtake them.

A surreal tale with an almost fairytale like quality to it. Rose of Iron seems very much like a cautionary tale of old as opposed to a straight forward horror film. The films drips with dark atmospheric, from the morbid poet who charms the female lead, to the foggy and creepy aesthetics of locations such as the train yard and the graveyard.

A purely psychological horror, with few actual elements of the supernatural. It could be that they are simply lost in the graveyard, but at times they seem to be going straight but ending up where they began. It plays on conventions and stereotypes as our male lead becomes angry and violence prone. Since it is he who triggers the inciting incident, it is of course him that the obligatory scene at the climax must focus more one. But ultimately it's the female lead and her surreal serenity that leaves us with a climax you won't find in many gore encrusted horror films.

La nuit des traquées (Night of the Hunted) (1980) Jean Rollin

La nuit des traquées (1980) aka Night of the Hunted

Genre: Thriller
Directed by: Jean Rollin
Country: France
Language: French
Subtitles: English (Hardcoded)
Aspect Ratio: Widescreen 1.66:1
Length: 96mn
File: Dvdrip Xvid Avi - 720x576 - 25fps - 682mb

Starring:
Brigitte Lahaie ... Elysabeth

Description:
Stylish, futuristically surreal and a departure from director Jean Rollin's familiar vampire territory, "The Night of the Hunted" features a mass of people suffering with insanity and collective amnesia. Bizarre, even by Rollin's standards, it still displays fairy tale qualities mixed with extremes of sadism, sex and violence.

This Rollin movie takes us into a surreal world, the cold architecture of satellite cities, with touches of 70s sci-fi from Rollerball to Rainer Erler, but nevertheless with Rollin's usual sex and gore obsessions. Several actresses had previous experience in the hardcore genre and provide gratuitous nudity, while any gore-hound will remember the suicide scene when the woman kills herself by stabbing a pair of scissors through her eyes into the brain. No, this is not a movie for the faint-hearted, but by no means a simple exploitation flick either.
