It’s the 1950′s. When Timar arrives in Africa, he soon embarks on an affair with Adele (Barbara Sukowa). She goes with him into the deep forest. Alcohol, sex, heat… Timar finds out that Adele killed one of her servants and had another man accused of murder. The love scenes are gorgeous to behold and the female love/sex interests are very seductive. Directed by Serge Gainsbourg with some of the finest French actors.
Based on a novel by Georges Simenon, Serge Gainsbourg has superimposed several dark emotions and a subtle brutality over the plot about a man’s trip to Africa and his unfortunate passion for a murderess whose amorality sends the disillusioned fellow back to Europe.
